Land Surveying

An underrated but important element to any site. Whether it be creating an original topographical survey pre-start, recording as-builts of elements installed or monitoring. The images below are but a small sample of my survey works.

Recording as-builts

Surveying of services or drainage installed not only helps check if things are in the right place, but future proofs any guesswork required by providing a relevant record of what is in the ground.

Monitoring builds

There were 3no. block retaining walls being installed on this site, each wall as unique as the last. I had to monitor line and level to provide frequent feedback to the lads on site highlighting whether there were any deviations in line or if they're reaching the top of wall.

Surveying mesh before concrete pours

In the image above, the specification for the concrete cover was tight so I had to survey the mesh to ensure cover was compliant to spec.

Topographical survey

During a cut and fill operation, I had to monitor and record the cutting of this bank to ensure the right slope was being cut and to quantify material movement.

Surveying foundations

Surveying steps in foundations before placing blocks/sand bags is important as this can highlight errors before anything is placed and causing deviations further up the build.

Surveying slabs pre-pour

Here I checked the blinding level before we installed the gas membrane to ensure the mesh was installed within the specified tolerance. Having the blinding at the right level with little to no deviations contributes greatly to a smooth build up.
