Foundations

As my old mentor used to say, "success is always built on a firm foundation". From small pads to giant pours, each foundation has to be treated with the same level of precision as the next. Below are a few samples of foundations I've worked on throughout the years.

120m long foundations for robotic tracks

The tolerance on this foundation was tight as eventually robotic tracks were being installed and any deviation in level on the foundation would have had quite a severe impact on the tracks above.

Apartment block foundations

Thanks to good ground and the excavator drivers' neatness, these foundations turned out beautifully.

Mezzanine foundations

The client had purchased an existing warehouse and required the setting out of foundations and holding down bolts to later install steel columns for a single story mezzanine floor.

Foundations for a 14no. block of plots

Using n4ce (modelling software) and collating all relevant drawings, I drew up the model for these foundations to be used via machine control. A great methodology of works when ground conditions aren't great.

Foundations for a 5 story apartment

Image taken soon after the blinding works were complete and the ground beams and pile caps could be set out. Thanks to the workmanship of the lads on the ground, all the elements of this foundation came into place quite nicely.

Stone foundation for a 220m long sand bag retaining wall

Another interesting challenge where I had to assess the steps according to the existing ground levels while considering minimizing exessive bag usage.
